GUIDELINES

International Conference on Conversation Analysis (ICCA-02)

Copenhagen, 17-21 May 2002

Programme

Guidelines for paper presenters

How much time do I have?

Each panel or parallel session paper is allotted 30 minutes, including discussion. That leaves 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for the discussion, unless your panel organiser has decided otherwise. For papers in panels, the panel organiser is the last authority on the panel schedule. For papers in a parallel session, if in doubt, contact your chair person.

Which equipment can I use?

You can use:

bulletOHP, overhead projector
bullet

VCR, videotape player (there may be a problem with the video format NTSC, so use PAL)

bullet

AP, audiotape player

bullet

LCD projector (to project the screen from your portable computer onto a large screen: both Macs and PCs can be connected. Mac-users must be aware that they need a special cable connecting their Mac to the projector's plug, eg. 15 pin or 9 pin)

bullet

Loudspeakers to be connected to your laptop

bullet

White board or black board

Please note that sometimes it doesn't work too well if you switch between the VCR projector and LCD projector. If you are in a room with separate screens for VCR and LCD projection, then it’s not a problem.

Can I make copies of my handout at the conference site?

Yes, you can buy a copy machine card at the conference secretariat.

Can I send my handout and have it copied in Denmark for me?

Yes, if you are a plenary speaker (or have good friends in Denmark).

Can I print slides etc. at the conference site?

Yes, there’ll be computer facilities with Internet hook up and printer connection. But bear in mind that there’ll only be a couple of computers (12, if they all are in order) available to all conference participants. Copy machine cards work to pay prints as well. Payment: Danish currency, we cannot handle other currencies (including the Euro).

Can I check my webmail at the conference site?

Yes, some of the computers have Internet hook up, but see above. However, if 400 participants want to check their mail daily, a lot of people will probably spend their coffee break waiting.

Can’t I just hook up my own computer to one of your printers?

No, please don’t! We’ll have plenty of things to do besides repairing corrupted printer connections.

Who am I to contact with last minute problems when I’m on site?

The chair of your session.

I am organiser of a panel / chair of a session, who am I to contact with the problems I encounter?

The conference secretariat. When on site, you can’t miss us.

Office hours for the conference secretariat:

Mornings and breaks: 8-9 am + 10:30-11:30 am + 1-2:30 pm + 4-5 pm.
